Small Shows Competition

The Club runs a season long competition to encourage breeders and owners of Welsh Black Cattle to enter and exhibit at a number of smaller local Agricultural shows. There are two concurrent sections the first for New Entrants to showing the cattle and the second a cumulative points competition which aims to increase the number of exhibits at the smaller shows. The cash prizes are awarded at the Annual Dinner held in November

Annual Herd Competition

This is judged over the course of a week in September by a Welsh Black Breeder from outside the Club. Each Herd is visited in turn. The results are announced at the Annual dinner held in November. For judging the herds are split by number of breeding females into under 10, 11 to 20, 21 to 30 and over 30. There also classes for best cow & calf, best stock bull and best progeny of the same sex from the same bull, 4 for the larger herds and a pair for the under 21 breeding females.

This competition is run during the summer show season and is for Yearling Heifers. At each nominted show the highest placed heifer which has not previously qualified is awarded a special rosette. The winners of the special rosettes are entitled to compete at the final show of the season for Glyn Jones cup.
